Affects so many the elite have no care for you
Manipulated by a greed taken from plain view
Deceitful enemy, hell reigns its wrath down on you

It is received into the towers, transmit the currents, flowing gains record the past
Altered by the finger tips, commanding absolute, no room for nothing else
Do not let go or you will fall, move through the unseen melding of becoming one

Yes! Yes I’m certain lets arm and begin
Wait! We’ve forgotten that last vital part
What? Let the phantoms run forward and feed
Shifting form from chemical, reactions in your mind may become digitized
Under attack, their redefined, shaped to designers will the architects of sound
Signals fall now into one, a unified existence to combine us all
Locked to the beat, strings tingling spine, harmonics chime together rhythms roll and drive

Affluent minorities hold the key to the power
Stratified authorities begin closing their towers
The privileged and wealthy are but a small existence
But as we dilute ourselves we diminish our resistance
Timeless seems the wait for the majority of us
They will seal our fate with their philosophies of dust
As our assets shrink and our economy declines
We fall from the brink and follow men who keep us blind
A fluent minority have the key to the power
Scarified society hit the eleventh hour
The privileged and the wealthy cower in their existence
We are deluded no more, there is finally resistance
A mouse distracted by the bait, the eagle swoops in for the kill
And as the years go by, the power rests, unyielding in their will
We ask for answers to their crimes but all we get, a web of lies
We seek the truth but in their eyes the truth is not the final prize
The underbelly has an itch, give it a scratch, ain’t life a bitch
It’s all to play for in this life, it’s just a game so roll the dice
Unforeseen prophecy shifts the balance of power
Rectified priorities unify us this hour
The final curtain calls upon the seal of oppression
Our paths no longer lead down the road of deception

Slay the colossus of stone I won’t let it steel your soul
A temple of light cast to the realm of shadows
Hordes in the night rise as the legends foretold
Here now I stand the black heart of evil reigns
Words in the sand, voices of endless pain
This voice inside me tells me to flee and never return
Face eternal damnation, a lesson to learn
Mind over man, the demon repeats for I must decide
There’s nowhere on earth left for us to hide
Creatures the size of a mountain they roam
Souls that are lost they cannot be reclaimed
Behold the idols that hang on the wall
And slay the colossus of stone

More than enough to start again that’s what we have
But not for long we hammer it down into the ground
When we are reborn transcending death may we save our every breath
On a mountain of madness their lives a god with a cold hand of steel and heart without love
Its wish to control us for we hold it up, without us it crumbles down, down into dust
The lives of the many the choice of a few, is turning the tables something we can do?
A king among evils, the downfall of man, we must disintegrate them or we will be damned
To serve their rule forever more into the ground
Life on a loop, sweet carousel goes round and round
Get on your feet don’t cower in defeat we’re still alive
In the last of decay there’s still so much more, have we forgotten what we’re fighting for
Our time is short the lines are drawn the veil falls her face revealed
A pale bride her hand is yours her eyes they burn deep in your soul
Light of the moon earth intertwined unto her will we are confined
Now as you gaze into the fire we are all slaves to her empire

Traversing out into the open, a celestial curse
An unknown path we ride alone, and then it gets worse
As we glide on through the vacuum, fixing what we can
To stay alive in this ocean, and rely on one man
And the stars they glow as we continue on our flow
What may be alive in this vast space beside?
This bubble of life floats seamlessly through time
Outside there is only us, but what emerges from the dust?
As this galaxy unravels, to its distant zones
Through its arbitrary lines, Andromeda we go
A hidden presence beholds, a vast gravitational force
Is this just dark matter, how can I know?
And we’ve found no life at all, escaping our grasp
What we know, the probability, carry on our searches
Could this be a reflection of our own reality?
Or is our universe a gear in this mirror machine

Retrograde Motion

As I wake in distant space I see the writings on the walls,
And as I read I realise the situation I am in,
My memory has been taken away, my days are eluding me,
Trapped inside a space anomaly, inflicted by a presence yet to be seen,
I enter the control room and what I see astonishes me,
A fortress suspended in space, its holding me here,
I’m locked inside a loop of time, a recurring sphere,
I must break the cycle my reflection is mocking me,
Start the search for clues I may have left myself some time ago,
It is not long before I find what it is that I am looking for,
I send a signal out into space, faint hope someone will hear me,
Then charge a pulse of all remaining power and fire it into their abyss,
It take what I need my gun and some explosives,
A last ditch attempt to escape my captivity,
“I will no longer be subjected to your spell”,
I eject from my doomed fate, I have to be free,
I am free from my ship and I accelerate,
Out into space,
But they have seen me their pulling me in,
What more can they take from me but my life,
This place is so vast… I have not felt such presence before,
An unknown face appears as my eyes adjust,
It towers above me and takes me away,
Led along a path, I am a prisoner,
In this city suspended in space,
My distant life before, a fading memory,
Again I must escape, and face my true captor,
A god or flesh and blood, can I defeat their will,
Or will they hold me here, forever is not the end

The artwork and title might mislead you to thinking this is a goofy album. Don't be fooled. It is some seriously beautiful art-rock progressive metal. On the current scene, I think of bands like IQ and Porcupine Tree, and like those bands, HoC draws in classic 70s prog influences in a completely modern and non-retro way.

I like this one as much as I like the first one, and I like Utopia quite a bit! Quality proggish Trad, great singing, not wanky, and even some Tolkien. Great!
